Are leeches being used in modern medicine?
"Leeches!!" Anyone who remembers the scene in the 1986 classic motion picture "Stand by Me" -- during which the young stream Phoenix, Corey Feldman and Jerry O'Connell flail and screech in the mud, flinging the blood-sucking creatures from their arms, backs, legs and...other places -- is even in basic cognitive process that these slippery , segmented worms' sole reason for existing is to create individuals recoil in disgust at the terribly sight of them. But believe it or not, leeches also serve AN necessary purpose within the medical field.
